Hi everybody,

New to the site and have a couple of questions to pose to the forum.

I have, what I have been told, is a Thwaits 7000 Dumper. Having unsuccessfully searched online for confirmation of that I was hoping that someone here may be able to help identify it for me. I've uploaded some photos.

The second thing I am looking to establish is where the engine ID plate is to be found. I have found one ID plate on top of the gear box but wanted to know if that will be the engine number or something different. I need to establish the engine number to get a replacement cesna hydrolic valve (dependant on which engine is fitted) which has irreparably broken.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Simon,
I had one of these dumpers. I cant remember the model number, but I don't think it is a 7000.
It is a 2 ton machine and the engine is a Petter PH2 the engine number should be on a plate riveted to the side of one of the cylinder heads just above the exhaust manifold or injectors.

You beat me to it Fred.Its a ph2 and the engine number should be on the side of the rocker cover ( on that plate shown in the first photo) with the machine number on the frame.

Just been down to look over it and found the numbers, easy when you know how,
The numbers read on the top line: PH2 75328 PH2R and the bottom line: 18.0 2000
The machine number is 49634. Does that sound right? I take it only the top line is the engine number. Am I right in thinking its a Thwaits?
Also, I spoke to a hydraulics company in East Grinstead and they said the new part would be about
£400 does that sound right, if not can anyone suggest anywhere that might be able to help.

Yes you are right the top line will be the No. and it is a Thwaites machine.
My son tells me that I misled you in the previous post. It is a 2.5 tonner not 2 ton and he is right. We still cant remember the model though.
It may be difficult to find spares for a machine this age, you could try HPS. I cant comment on the price you have been quoted, nothing's cheap any more.

When I worked as a young lad for Wimpeys in the plant yard in Southampton we had loads of those come through the workshop. Most of them had the swivel skip for use with concrete placing work, good old basic dumper in their day, but we were always working on the brakes and clutches !! Lol

I sprayed up loads of them in Wimpeys Brunswick Green paint

You may be able to pick up another make valve block that will do the same job.Noticed that there are a few hydraulic valve blocks on Ebay.Might be worth a look on there.
