Old Page walking dragline

Post #1 by Shovelman » Fri May 20, 2011 5:20 am

While on a bike ride last Sunday, I happened to spot a boom in the distance so I broke off from the group to check it out. By the time I got to it, the sky had opened up and I got soaked. Anyway; here are a couple of photos.

Now that I know where it is, I'll get back there sometime soon and get some better photos.

Absolutely! Most of these old girls have been cut up and scrapped years ago, so I consider finding one intact like this a real treat.

My guess would be early '50s. I've contacted the foreman of the operation where this machine is and have arranged to visit next week when (and if) the weather is nice. I should be able to get some specific details (and better photos) at that time. The foreman also told me there are several other old machines on the property and I will see a big surprise when I visit. I'll post and share what I see and learn.
