Ed Drott operating an early loader demonstrating a level load, (info from John Drott jr),who may be in the bucket  .Early machine developement used Allis Chalmers base tractors before using International Harvester tractors fitting it with Drott equipment,as you know Rubery Owen manufactured this equipment in the UK to fit to I H machines and designated B-6-K3 for the BTD6. Waiting more information from John Drott jr on the companies proving ground at Tomahawk USA.Looking forward to receiving that and will post on CMN as soon as I get it.My BTD6 is good as finnished today. Been a long slog since February, not helped by the wonderfull British weather  Will post Photos in the BTD6 Drott restoration section.

Ps I am hopeing to get out to the USA next year and hopefully meet up with members of the Drott family.Would like to put a Drott mfg company book together as the companies history goes back to 1915 when founded by Ed Drott, nearly a decade before Caterpillar tractors were formed.Would love a look around the proving ground, plus there is a lot of interesting history in that part of the USA

Hi,
Drott did quite a bit with Cletrac in the early days too.
Here are a couple of pics. of the "Dtott Bullclam",(the forerunner of the Drott we know), on "Oliver Cletracs", I can't find the "Allis" pics. at the moment.

I was always curious where the name "bullclam" actually came from. I've heard it being applied to 4-in-1 buckets mounted on everything from backhoes to trackloaders; but also large mining face shovels as well!

Its wonderful to hear that the family is so proud of their achievements; and that they are enthusiastic about people who are showing an interest in what the Drott company introduced.

Just from reading this, I've already learned that the Drott company had links with the logging industry, I really had no idea the two were connected in any way - apart from the use of crawler tractors that is. Were Drott also involved with the construction of tools like logging arches and such for the transporting of trees?
