Hello John,
I remember seeing these tractors when my father took me to a plant trade show in Cardiff. It would have been about 1951 I was about 10 years old.
I havent seen any since, but I have some information you may find usefull.
The Dragon was apparently only made from 1950 to 53 and available with Turner AV95 V4 or Dorman 4DS engines both 36.5 hp.
They had clutch and brake steering foot operated clutch and four speed and reverse gearboxes.
The tracks and running gear was made for them by Fowlers of Leeds.
They had an unusual system to allow vertical track-frame movement with a beam across in front of the tractor you can see it in the photo.
The basic tractor weighed 2.8 tons and sold for £1,450
I know they were available with a blade but as far as I'm aware they never made a shovel.(unless someone knows different).
I found this photo of the basic tractor but the only photo I can find of a Lloyd with a blade is of a different model.
Fred.

Interesting stuff ,never heard of these tractors before , except with the pre war British Army ! who had Lloyd carriers and Dragon carriers which were something different .Don't know wether they were connected to same company in any way.

Hi Caig,
These tractors were made by Vivian Lloyd of Camberly, Surrey.
The tracks on the earlier models before Fowlers were involved looked as though they may have a military connection. See photo from Farm Mechanisation , March 1950.

Some models had Ford V8 petrol engines.

Hi Fred ,do you mean the post war tractors were made by Vivian Lloyd ? because he/they made the wartime Lloyd Carriers .
The BEF1940 is another interest of mine, and they had quite a few :ugeek:

Ah so that means these two are related and they are LOYD 's .
The wartime Loyd Carriers had Fordson engines and axles and were slightly bigger than the famous 'Bren' Carriers.

Hi Craig
Brilliant photos. The original colour of the tractor would have been bright red.
The earlier model DP tractors which had differential steering had a drive axle with brake drums behind the sprockets simular to the carrier in your second photo.
Here is a photo of the brake drum arangement from Farm -Mechanisation Mag. and a photo of the Lloyd DP in the original Lloyd Red wth the green Turner V4 engine.
