Great dioaramas Chris ,imagine theirs a lot of work in making that scenery,particularly like the 30's door.

Saw your drotts on demolition Craig. Hence my response with traxcavators.

I' m down to em' creeping out of corners now ,but it is in colour One thing that strikes you looking at these pics is the number of fine buildings biting the dust.

In the corner, middle, it doesn't matter. Another good unseen pic thats what matters.

These remind me of the guy's who pulled down one of the local shoe factories, summer 1988. Spent good part of the hols watching, elf and safety wasn't an issue then! None of the site was fenced off, instead relying on the general public to keep clear and one of the team keeping an eye out at the crucial moments.....

Damage was done with an O&K RH9 with a hammer, a Cat 215 with a shear, Cat 955L and a Cat wheel loader. Memorable moments were when the driver on the RH9 knocked out the last bit of masonry holding a substantial section of roof up. Building was 3 storey at this point, higher than machine would reach, and the resulting collapse led to a brown trouser moment as he tried to get out the back window of the cab. Other was when a wire rope was put round a section of wall and attached to the 955L, the crew stood in the road to stop the traffic in case things went wrong and someone thought they'd stopped the traffic for his benefit as he wanted to cross the road.... As the driver pulled forward, the noise from the 955L and his ear protection making him unable to hear his colleagues shouts, the errant wanderer soon woke up realising what was about to happen he soon moved out the way!!!
