MF 300 As new..

Post #1 by JimInOz » Sat Jul 12, 2014 5:20 am

Found these local pictures of an old favourite of mine.
Compliments of the Melbourne Museum website, where there are some other MF tractor pics, etc.

My uncle bought a new 300 in the early 70s,& it was the first bit of gear I ever "operated". I started by just going forward & back, while we were manually loading the bucket with bricks on demo sites.I threw thousands & thousands of bricks into that bucket..
I can still hear that Perky in my head,as the decel pedal was lifted.

One time,I had to unload the 300 off a UD tipper..I just lowered the ripper & backed it off into a raised garden bed ,which broke my fall.

PS: I've never seen a cabin on a MF crawler,& never seen a GP bucket on a Massey crawler either. Most Crawler Loaders here had no cab,& were fitted with rippers & 4in1.

The Massey range of shovels worked very well and to all intents seemed a well put together bit of kit, the 3366 was called the "trouble free double 6" they were a tough well liked item.

I may get a M F 300 loader one day Tony, loved them.Very reliable. Rebuild a M F 300 years ago after it took a dip in the water at Cockwood habour, Devon. It went under up to its cab worklights
