Great stuff again Craig! :claphands:

The Ford backhoe driver is taking a risk! And there could even be a bloke in the building infront of the bucket!

Quite a number of AEC 'Dumptruks' in the Wrights Thames Trader pic too. Looks like they've got sheets on, which is unusual. and the back end of the body looks modified. Feeding a paver train with concrete on top of the embankment, possibly?

Keen eyes David , yes unusual to have sheeted loads on a dumptruck , they seem to have odd tailboards as well .All concrete wagons on this work i've seen are usually covered in the stuff. When I was on concrete runways we always used side tippers feeding the train (Guys into the 1990's !)

Nice pics Craig-I saw the AEC Militant at a Rally at Cranleigh Surrey in the early 90's where the Round Timber Club were doing a demonstration. It belonged to WG Binder of High Wycombe who had it built to their own spec with crane winch and anchor by Boughtons of Amersham and was reputed to be the biggest purpose built timber winch of it's time.I spoke to the driver who told me it was an awesome powerful machine which had been known to straighten C hooks when winching. I wonder where it is now. Tim

Good stuff. Unusual bumper on top D series. What was the top crome grill on the D series, some seemed to sport them?
Never seen a picture of an AEC ergo with boots like that! Is that a genuine 6x6?

The chrome strip denoted that it was a maximum weight model D1000 Pete with 140 hp 6 cyl Ford engine or 170/180hp Cummins or Perkins V8. The AEC is a genuine 6x6- but as far as i know not many Militants were built with the ergo cab. Tim

Does anyone know where the Amey ERF was based and when? I worked at Amey HQ Wotton and they only had 3 Fodens a Scamell and two Leyland low loaders between 1965 and 1972

Link to another thread here. What is the truck being loaded by the Chaseside? It looks like it has a Perkins badge on the front. Dad and I thought is was a Bedford but not sure?
