That is a very early skip truck Tim, any idea when the idea was first used and from where?

Hi Peter I have always been led to believe that the first skip loader was built by Bennes Marrel in France in the mid to late 50's.Reynolds Boughton of Amersham took on an agency and sold them in the UK under the Boughton-Marrel name.On the history page of the Boughton website www.reynoldsboughton.com there is a pic of a BMC with a Marrel skiploader which looks a lot like the loader on the Bedford.Also the German company Meiller made skiploaders in the early days and they were sold in the UK under the Sheppard Meiller name :thumbup: Tim

Never seen a Bedford O series skip truck before ,if its original fitment it must be pre 1953 , great pic. :thumbup:

Marell, who made that unit, were certainly selling skip loaders in the UK in the 1950's but I cannot find anything to indicate when they started. The history page on their site doesn't help either:

Fab demolition scene craig for first pic,is that a 951 i can see,also my old man had a few tk's in his time.

Managed to find these Bedford Esso petrol tankers from the Frecheville Carnival,Sheffield from 1950.

..............3rd down not a tipper I know, Mowlems ex- army Bedford MW with super woodwork cab doors, not a shuttering joiner :D
