Eight Wheeler 8x2 Beavertail Plant Movers

Post #1 by XS650 » Tue Oct 14, 2014 10:06 am

Is there any reason why these are suddenly becoming so popular ? something you never used to see except in Italy now they are everywhere.
There is a truck paint shop near me knocking them out all the time .

Several reasons I suspect, maneuverability, we've got vacuum tankers using this axle setup, they'll get into places an 8x4 wont. Rear axle can be lifted when empty, reduces rolling resistance, also chassis would be slightly lighter and therefore fuel consumption is reduced. Vehicle is still plated at 32 tonnes so if double drive is not required it's a better solution for the operator.
