KHL: Earthquake impacts Japanese equipment production

Post #1 by IBH » Tue Mar 15, 2011 1:44 pm

Last week's massive earthquake off the east coast of Japan's Honshu Island has caused damage to some of the country's construction equipment factories. Both Komatsu and Hitachi have seen production disrupted, and there are also concerns that damage to Honshu's eastern ports will hamper exports.

Hitachi has five factories in Ibaraki Prefecture, to the north of Tokyo, which were damaged in the quake. The company says it is still assessing the damage, and is also concerned about the availability of electrical power and damage to other utilities.

I think what has happened to Japan since Friday has touched the hearts of everyone on this planet, but i do know this, if there is a country that will pick themselves and rebuild stronger, then Japan is that country, they will soon be back producing.

... a Japanese proverb says if you fall down 7 times, then pick your self up 8 times.

I have been following the news reports on TV.The people are very calm and seem to be helping each other.Don't think this would happen anywhere else in the World. The power plant incidents are very alarming. It will take years to recover and looks like the death toll may be as high as 10,000.Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan. Also this disaster will be felt much further than Japan as our industries are also linked to them with a lot of Japanese companies here in the UK and Europe.
Did you see that large ship washed up onto the dock.Nature is very powerfull indeed.
We moan alot about things here in the UK,but when you see what they have to contend with it makes you think twice, how lucky we are in the UK.
