Volvo to market Perlini dumptrucks in the UK.

Post #1 by IBH » Thu Jun 24, 2010 3:46 pm

Volvo is to market Perlini's range of rigid dump trucks in the UK. It will sell four of the Italian-built vehicles ranging from the 40t payload 405 to the 95t capacity 905.

The extension to the deal to include the UK was announced at Hillhead where a 405 model was in the working area along with several of Volvo's articulated dump trucks. Under the deal the trucks will carry Perlini's branding but will be sold and supported by Volvo UK, allowing it to offer its customers the option of articulated or rigid dump trucks.

The 40t machine has a 410kW/2,373Nm MTU engine and a 26m³ heaped capacity (2:1) body. At the top end the 95t machine has a 61m³ body and is fitted with a V16 MTU engine producing 783kW/4,630Nm to give a top speed of almost 60km/h.

All the vehicles use Allison transmissions and are fitted with hydraulic retarders and oil-immersed disc brakes front and rear. Traction control and ABS is standard fitment across the range.

Independent suspension is used at the front while the rear beam axle has oil-filled shock absorbers and the cab has an air suspended seat. Twin inboard hydraulic rams tilt the body to over 50º in between 12 and 16 seconds and the body is heated by the exhaust.
