Nicks Blog | Nick Drew My Life in Plant (Part Five) the Northampton Era

Post #1 by RSS Bot » Sun Oct 17, 2010 5:16 pm

In August 1996 my partner secured a teaching position at another agricultural college in Northampton and as such a relocation from Southampton was needed, and for me a new search for an operating job began.

We started the search by using the Yellow Pages as a brief and driving around to the various plant hire and groundwork's contractors in the area to introduce myself face to face, which I personally feel is the best approach.

There were not many takers at that time, despite visiting some of the bigger players in that area including Weldon's and Mainland Plant, both of which I believe are no longer trading. Then after thinking I would have to continue working in Southampton there was a breakthrough when a company who shall remain nameless offered me a start on a housing site in Brixworth on a JCB JS200 like the example shown in this photo.
