As Freddie Mercury and Queen once sang "the show must go on" and go on it did at SED 2009 last week at Rockingham!
Understandably in the current climate the show was considerably smaller than in previous years but most exhibitors and visitors I spoke to during my two days at the show were very upbeat about the future for our industry.
Of course it is really too early to talk about any green shoots of recovery but a significant number of salesmen told me that they had been pleasantly surprised by the level of enquiries for new kit which can only be a good thing.
Doosan had a few new machines on their impressive stand which included the new Doosan DX140R 14ton reduced tailswing excavator.
This all new machine has only 180mm of overhang when compared to the standard DX140LC,and it certainly looked the part, it was just a shame that it wasn't on the demo plot as I was looking forward to having a test drive on it.
