I was wondering if there was a major difference in rebuild kit quality and/or if anyone has good/bad experience in the past?
I have a tired FE35 that requires an engine rebuild, the extent of the rebuild is not yet known, but given the amount of blow-by I'm expecting to replace/service:
Liners + pistons
bottom end bearings
valve guides + valves (perhaps just check and regrind)
timing chain + tensioner
oil pump
But until I open it up, I won't know for sure..
Also on the list:
Starter rebuild
Rubber hoses
Tidy electrics (all work but needs tlc)
front valance
rear wings
and a coat of paint (perhaps)
I will spill time the pump and open out the combustion hole too, to aid starting. I might consider having the head drilled for heater plugs..
Cheers
Al

Re: Prefered engine rebuild kit?
I got my engine kit for my David Brown 990 from Emmark in Leeds. My engine machining man commented on the good quality of the parts.
My friend has a few 35's four cylinders I'll ask him where he got engine kits for his from, I've a feeling it may have been agriline but could be mistaken.
He has a couple of four cylinder heads not fitted which have the heater plug holes. He is also equipped to machine your own head to match if necessary.
