Jcb 3c manual lack of reverse when warm

Hi guys, I have found this forum while doing an Internet search trying to find the root of a problem I am having. I have searched the forum but can't seem to find anyone experiencing the same sort of issues I am having.

I have an old jcb 3c with a manual box that I use on my small holding. She is a great runner but always lacked power in reverse, it seems to be getting worse where now unless I am on flat clear ground like my concrete yard, I have no reverse at all. The strange thing is when the machine is first started for the first 5 mins I can reverse no problem.

The gear box also has a low high lever at the side of the normal gear change but moving it seems to make no difference

I hope some one can help point me in the right direction !

you will most likely find the teeth on reverse are worn out and slipping by changing from hi to low won't help as the reverse gear is the same in both you will have to remove the lid to look at the gear it is the one on it's own at the left rear of the box .
