Hi all, just trying to do abit of research into what international would of been selling to compete with the likes of JCB and such in the backhoe market during the early 60's if any thing? I know JCB offered there own back actor as a fittment to the drott, ive used one but i'm interested in the wheeled options they offered themselves.
Any pictures about?
Cheers morgan

Re: international equipment
I think the first versions were built on industrial versions of the ag tractor with another manufacturer's loader and hoe bolted on. Google IH digger/back hoe and go to images.

Re: international equipment
The International b2275 would have been a big competitor to JCB's machines in the 1960's but considering it only weighed 4.5 ton that would have made it a direct competitor to the JCB 2 and JCB 2Bmk1. The International 3434 I think replaced the old B2275in the late sixties , followed by the 3400. I don't think International made anything after the 3400A.

Re: international equipment
International also made a few wheeled loaders at the Rubery Owen site in Darlaston, West Midlands that were equipped with a Wain-Roy designed backhoe; these were mid to late 60's machines from what I understand.

Re: international equipment
Thanks all, I've googled the b2275 and this is the age of machine i've been looking in to, so was this IH's first backhoe loader or was there a machine that pre-dates it? interesting to see some images of machines fitted with Drott buckets!

Re: international equipment
I would be surprised if it was IH's first BHL. The b2275 sold in big numbers i'm pretty sure it was manufactured in the early 60's and IH would have had a BHL in the 50's. Wainroy were strongly linked with IH and they were manufacturing Backhoes in the early fifties alongside a company called Davis Backhoes which were later bought outright by Case. Its quite likely that the b2275 was the first BHL sold in the UK by IH but its predecessors would have been produced in the US.

Re: international equipment
Thanks again, the wainroy looks very similar to a sherman backhoe, do they slew with rams coupled to reynolds chains similar to the arrangement on my hymac 480? I'm sure thats how the sherman did it.
