Hi Simon, looks like to me to be a 1979/80 3Cmk3 power train.

Martyn

Thanks for the info on the machine, as you probably noticed it's been fitted with a '' Fuel Tank'' on the roof
the previous owner was forever changing clogged fuel filters caused by the original fuel tank
So he came up with the new bypass tank on the roof

Once I have time I will try and figure out a way to clean the original tank and then remove the roof top tank
I believe you need someone with small hands (sounds like a job for the Grand kids) or maybe I can do it myself

Perhaps a bit extreme to have the tank on the roof! It would work perfectly well, mounted on the mudguard and be easy to fill.

Hi

I managed to get a couple of pictures of the 79/80 JCB? with Powertrain?? if that what it is ????

The story so far:
I have been looking for ages for a Digger that I can use for levelling a large area of ground, to be done in stages along with building walls, storage areas, concrete laydown areas etc, so as always happens when you work away from home this came up for sale,

so I have bought it on the back of the Youtube video

I've never driven a JCB in my life so i'm a complete novice, I've hired Takeuchi TB125 diggers before, but I thought for the amount of work left why not invest in something I can keep and hopefully use as when I can

so I'm curious now as to exactly what I've bought and your opinions as to the way it performed on the video, for me it seemed to do what I want it to do and there doesn't seem to be any leak on the Hydraulics, the liners have been changed and I'm assured it starts on the button and runs well

Pictures below

and thanks in advance if anyone could give me their words of Wisdom

You appear to have bought a nice power train as mentioned above. It all looks good and seams to work fine from what we can see on the video

Mambo

thanks for that, always difficult buying things you can't see in the flesh and not knowing much about JCB's comes with a risk

Never mind lots of practice and laughs awaiting me i'm sure
