after closer inspection today it looks like the previous owner has squashed the slew overflow (thats if its the bolt with the small pipe hanging out of it at the back of the kingpost) have you tackled this type of mission before,is it an easy job to do,and do you know the size of the alan key type bolts that holds the slews in thanks john

Not sure if Im right but that overflow pipe youre on about is on a plate with four bolts holding it down to kingpost frame. If its leaking from up under that plate you need to take the plate off, It could be that the seal is rotten or another common problem is that plate can warp under pressure from overfilling the slew box with too much gear oil especially if the overflow is blocked. No harm changing the gear oil anyway, if you look under the kingpost you will see a sump drain nut to open and release oil. If you cannot find a seal for the plate a tube of gasket sealer may do the trick. Refill with gear oil (not sure what spec) and dont overfill, the overfill pipe is also the dipstick. This problem is nothing to do with your hydraulic system if this is the problem of course.

if you have oil leaking out around the base of the kingpost the slew seals wil be leaking, can't remember the bolts if they are cap bolts are 9/16 or 5/8 af if they are bolts 1 1/8 AF .
