M-F 205 industrial

Post #1 by 2gundogg » Fri Jul 15, 2011 3:33 pm

I have a 1961 MF 205 with a 101-102 loader/backhoe. There is no PTO shaft out of the rearend. Is it possible to put a PTO in this tractor to be able to do double duty as a farm tractor? It has the quick detach backhoe system. Engine is AD3.152 diesel. Transmission is toreque converter type.

had a couple of these and there is no lift pump etc in the backend .90% certain they use a mf 65 backend attached to a mf 35 engine but use a heavy duty front axle there is no provision for a pto shaft to fit to the casing some times are different but not by much ,u would need virtually a full mf 65 backend to swapover every thing.

Our old 203 had the lift and PTO, and fairly certain that a later 40 that I drove (reversomatic) had lift and PTO.
I think Rob is right these small industrials were a hybrid of 35 and 65. The only thing is I would not really think the torque convertor transmission is particularly suited to ordinary tractor duties with only 4 forward gears and the slippage of the convertor.

i think you will find you with the torque converter ,you only get ground speed pto when moving ,but 540 when stationary
a friend of mine purchased a very tidy base mf industrial 205 with a view to top his paddocks with it
this is when we came upon this problem ,so it may pay you to do a bit more digging for info

cheers graham
every village has one , is yours missing you
