What engine is in my jcb 3c?

engine serial number is 498TBAK124, got the head kit on order from a tractor supply company here in St.John's, got the water pump and gasket kit for 160, JCB dealer wants 250 just for the gaskets.

The reason i am taking the head off is that she is putting compression in the rad and there was no thermostat. Put a new thermostat in and still the same problem. As soon as i start the engine the radiator pressurizes.

Funny thing is that she works perfect. Has no coolant in the oil . And only a bit off smoke on start up. I am going to remove head on saturday and find out. Is there any tricks to this? Can i leave the injectors is the head? Do i have to remove the intake?

Don't need to remove injectors but when you remove the head,don't set it flat on the protruding nozzles afterwards.No need to remove the inlet manifold either,unless you need to replace gaskets or decoke.Don't forget to remove the oil pipe feed to the head too!

Found the problem headgasket, engine is all back together, now and running, however i need a new radiator as the old one was blocked up, and the hole i put in don't help.Should have removed the radiator before trying to replace the water pump.

You might need to get the head pressure tested and skimmed. (or at least checked).

I checked the head with a straight edge . It looks good. Engine is back together and running. Took about 7 hr to complete. Will know for sure when i get the radiator repaired.

Hi guys, newbie here.

Just bought a 3C II and i still got some work on it. Have a little question about the engine simular to this topic here.
I found the number on the engine block: " 4/98NV/1601FJ/9606 "
The question is what engine is this now, i need to order a new head gasket so it could be nice tho now wich one.

Is 4/98NT the same of 4/98NV?
