I was warned before starting to load a lorry! Driver was an owner driver, a friend of the gaffer, and a rather large chap... To err on the side of caution I let him load himself, he'd had more experience on a 3C than me!

Its got to be hard work loading with a machine with a manual 'box. Bets thing they ever did with refuse collection vehicles was fitting the Allison auto 'box. I know of 2 retired drivers who have needed left hip replacements, all those years of using left leg for the clutch had worn the hip out. :(
