Its a JCB 'Hydra Digger', made before the 4.

I've seen one exactly like this before for sale on ebay. Its the rams on the rear boom that look very different.
Not all those who wander are lost.

Could be Dave,
However i dont think so, the one in the top picture shows a much more heavier build to the hydra digger, dont forget the hydra digger was all bolted on to a tractor unit, the 4 had its own chassis, the loading arms are heavier, and the rams are a larger bore.

A local contractor had a nice one until a few years ago until he sold his yard.
I always meant to get pictures of the machine, as it even had a full set of buckets and worked most days loading material.
I 'think' that the diference in look is just that the cover has been removed from the boom.
I like what looks like a high-back seat in the first picture, gives it a sort of JCB GT look!

Yes, you could be right Martyn, both about it being a 4, and it being "a bit modified"!!

Have to say Dave, its not in bad nick, the mudguards have rotted away and have been taken off, leaving just the fuel tank, and the cab has been replaced, oh yes the dipper ram guard has gone as well ..and that seat does give it the *GT* look

Re: What JCB-model is this?
Your mention of the fuel tank has reminded me - the local one had a lorry tank on the cab roof!
Obviously the cab was structurally sound then!
