Isn´t this simply a pre-force Ford 1000 series front end? See f.x. this https://heritagemachines.com/wp-content/uploads/Pic-3-22.jpg picture (found in this https://heritagemachines.com/tractors/a-famous-ford-5000-tractor/ article), showing the difference between post- and pre-force Ford 5000.

Many thanks for the replies Jeremy and Kari. Apologies for the late response, phone charging problems, dodgy lead. I had read that the 605 was produced with both the ford 4000 and 5000 engines but could only recollect the shape of the ford major which has a vertically split grill. Thank you Kari for supplying the download of the pictures. As you say looks like my 605 has the front end of the pre-force 5000. Happy now :) and thanks again. Just before I sign off, would Ebay be the best place to advertise or a specialist site
Peter.

If you know what you want for it, I would try a classified ad on ebay. Large audience and no scam bidding. Ads usually quite cheap and no final commission.

Hello Essex Pete. Thanks for the ebay advice. It is a 3 cylinder engine. Pity Whitlock are no longer trading as I live in Stebbing only 20 minutes away from Gt Yeldham which you will know is in Essex. I wonder what new concept they would be producing now if they were still operating. Is anyone directly connected to the company before it closed still alive.

Like Hy-mac who bought them, I would imagine there are still a few folk alive who worked for Whitlock, albeit in their senior years now.

I think the old Whitlock premises ended up as a tractor dealers and now a housing estate, I might be wrong.

Whitlock Drive is part of that housing estate. I bet a few interesting remnants have revealed themselves to any enthusiastic gardeners who reside their.
A couple of interesting sites I have come across on my searches (you may already know of these) are as follows.
tractors.fandom.com (followed by the title) Whitlock Brothers Limited This site gives a history and pictures of a large quantity of Whitlock machines.
And.
WWW.expressstar.com (followed by the title) David looks to unearth the truth in digger rivalry. A funny story about Whitlock and JCB
Apologies but I was unable for some reason to upload images of the site pages of the aforementioned.

Hi to all. I've been trying to access Ebays classified add section in order to advertise the Whitlock. Accessing the listing stage and most everything else is fairly straight forward but it seems that the only option is the auction process and I'm reluctant to press the list now button in case no other option is available and I end up committing to auction. I've followed Ebays own guide lines but havn't found the relevant process that they say exists in order to access the classified selling section.
I am using a mobile phone as I havn't access to a laptop but can't see as that would be an issue. Can anyone help please.
Peter.

For what ever reason, ebay seem to make it quite difficult to access the classified mode. Perhaps easier on desktop? You could try switching to desktop on the phone.
