JCB 3CX Sitemaster: where does this fuel pipe go?
Hi, first post, thanks for having me. The clear plastic pipe from the top of the fuel filter housing(?) that heads to the right of the 1st photo and can be seen attached to the -ve battery earth strap..... Should it be connected to something at it's opposite end? It's currently just hanging there. Fuel came out it when I started the engine. TIA.

I can't see anywhere in the inley manifold this would connect. Indeed, the metal pile on the left of the banjo bolt the clear pipe is connected to might be the supply to the Thermostart?
Might the clear pipe be some sort of breather? Although it seems strange that it should be allowed to vent onto the road.
I've included more pics that might help.

Lawrence, hi and welcome a fuel pipe would not vent to the atmosphere, could be a leak off which should be connected to the tank return, or so I would have thought?

Thanks guys. That makes sense having it return to the fuel tank somehow. The pipe is only a metre long, or so, so there must be somewhere up near the battery. I just can't see anything yet. There's nothing to connect it to the fuel filler pipe either.
I'll check again in daylight tomorrow. Thanks again.

A metal pipe to the Thermostart would make more sense.
A return line to the tank is more likely.
