I wouldn't trust any bearing that had seized once.
If they've seized, the grease has probably been washed out and there will be rust inside, so it'll never be good again.

If the waterpump and alternator share a belt, seizing the alternator may lead to an over heated block - a poor return for postponing an alternator rebuild.

Yea good advice, his is still running/working though years later he says turn it the opposite way to normal A machine fitter he called out to fix showed him how after his had stopped I have my eye on a new Alternator for £80 so a good investment
