weights for front end - 87 3CX?

Post #1 by ekmoor » Thu May 11, 2023 4:49 pm

So started using my new to me mqchine to dig up a few stumps and noticed there are no weights on the front of the tractor. Does this vintage machine supposed to have weights on the front end? The tractor pulled the front bucket off the ground quite a few times and these were easy stumps.
My 1700 has weights around the radiator (250kg) and if I remember, axle weights too.

Never ever seen weights of any type on any 3CX in the UK.

Did you have the stabiliser legs down?

Easiest thing I can think of is get closer to the stump.

Front bucket full of rubble or scrap perhaps?
If a LandRover doesn't leak oil, it's run out.

That works too....thinking my machine was missed weights.

Opening the 4 in 1 helps. As you get touch down further away

Went to look at a 86 1400b for a parts machine and this unit had weight in the front. Guess this was added later. Sorry pic is upside down.

The other thing is to use the back hoe bucket crowd to loosen the stump rather than directly pulling and lifting with the dipper and boom. If you have the room, keep working around the stump.
