3cx lost forward
I have been offered an Allen Scythe for free, (I already have one , ! ) if I can get a 3cx moving forwards again - how big a job could it be ? - it was doing both last week, but felt funny going into forward (apparently) right before it stopped being able to select it - that’s all I know. Thanks Andy

Re: 3cx lost forward
All I know is it’s a 1986 3cx and the VIN off it’s log book is 315812 - I’m going to look at it on Friday after work - owner says he thinks it a linkage shifter on the left and it looks like it is rotating an actuator ? not sure that he knows what he is looking at or if he is even right, he says fluid level is OK ? I will report back

Re: 3cx lost forward
…. from what I can tell up to No.400000 was cable ? so if 315812 is correct then it has a rod down the side of the column to a lever, then by cable to the direction selector on the back of the box - let’s hope it’s that sloppy it’s not pulling/pushing to full forward and it’s not a blown seal, blockage or something in the actual valve

Unlikely, but if manual shuttle, you could check the dump valve. Usually deterioration of the shuttle is noticed before non drive unless something has catastrophically failed.

Re: 3cx lost forward
Up to serial no. 0319999 used cable control. They went electric after that, with the Synchro Shuttle transmission. You say that the fluid level is ok but has it been dipped with the engine running? Dipping with the engine stopped will not give a correct oil level reading.

Which cab was used at the time of the transmission change?

Re: 3cx lost forward
Here it is -: …. It was C reg, an 85 ?
It is rods, with a lever on the side of the column - and a cable to the dump valve from the pedal that’s in the centre of the shuttle - does this look like it’s moving all the way ? - this is with the lever all the way to the F position
…. I have only realised that now I am home that it looks like it maybe should go further ?
