I often wondered if you ordered a machine new with a clamshell front bucket if you got the bigger loader rams to cope with the much heavier front bucket. Though I can't see any evidence of hardlines for a bucket fitted. We've all got bitza's now after all these years.

Yesterday we finished off the front end JCB 3c2(conversion) rams etc, working good no leaks. Had a look at the slew operation as it did not slew. Since we changed the hydraulic oil and filters ( there was only about 8/9 gallon came out of the system) and filled it up the slew is having a go but is very weak (stop it by hand) so I'm hoping it's just the slew cylinder seals. The dipper drops as soon as the lever is released the ram isn't leaking though, so it's either the dipper ram seals or some one also said it could be the spool block Any comments or advice gratefully accepted.

Norm, I would have thought that the system held much more hydraulic oil than that? Sounds like you have not got enough oil in the system?

Hi Jeremy.
The Hyd oil was topped up, about 20/25 gall to get it some where near, even got the power steering working. All systems are OK apart from the two I mentioned.

Anyone know if the slewing mechanism on a 3c 2 is interchangeable with a 3c 3 or any of the parts before I get buckled in?

Nope, but they look visually close...
Watching with interest because I have some play in the slew mechanism on my machine, and a good 3c2 mechanism tucked away ready for when I have time...

Hi all.
Didn't get anywhere with that king post malarkey so transferred my interest to the brakes (or lack of)
Took all the pedals etc out as they were seized as was the hand brake lever. Next the brake discs. The fulrcrum pins put up a fair bit of resistance, the nearside one (pictured) had three goes with the gas torch before it submitted. I also used the carver clamp to force them to move and then the studding to jack them the rest of the way (pictured). I've got one actuator out absolutely seized so freed it off and cleaned the discs and actuator faces up then called it a day.
I pulled the cross brake shaft out it had to be welded and machined back to size. I got the new oilite bushes from Simply Bearings, cheap as chips.
