JCB 3CX door glass

Post #1 by Barry_e » Sun Mar 28, 2021 12:20 pm

I’ve got a left door glass here I don’t want. It came out of my old 3CX when the frame rotted and I didn’t want it in a thousand pieces! I forgot about it when I sold it so if anybody is interested it’s available for pick up.

Hi Barry, what generation 3CX was it that this came from? The glass doesn't appear to have any holes drilled in it for hinges or handles, so I'm guessing it was for either a 'white' (1980 to 1983) or 'grey' (1988 to 1991) cab model.

Hi Tim, No holes, just sat in the full frame if I remember. I have some old photos of the JCB so I’ll try and find them and upload one as I don’t know the answer to “White” or “Grey”...

That's a 'White Cab' (so called because the cab structure is painted white!) so the first generation of 3CX, the second generation was the 'Black Cab' where cab structure was black (with a white roof still) and that had all glass doors and side windows. Problem with the all glass doors was it didn't take much for you to end up holding a door handle in free air with the glass in puzzle form...as I discovered to my cost:

Sorry can’t help with that one! - Maybe I can lend you a brush to go with that dustpan? Any “white cabs” out there want a spare glass in case their’s goes in puzzle form then? - All free to a good home with 3CX!
