1700b
How’s everyone doing? I recently purchased a 1700b that needs a little tlc. To start I’d like to get the brakes workin again. Right now the pedal goes right to the floor. I was going to first attempt to bleed the lines and determine if the master cylinders are working. What oil should I use? I’ve heard atf as an option. Also does anyone in the north East us have a good source for parts? I need a new driver side rear window hinge.

Re: 1700b
I agree with Essexpete, I’m sure I seen somewhere where normal hydraulic fluid can be used (I use HLP46) for the hydraulic system, although I was reading about the manual hydraulic slew lock system where it stated not to use normal brake fluid. Hopefully more opinions will come in on this.

Re: 1700b
JCB light hydraulic fluid 10 used to be the correct fluid for the brakes but it seems to be HP 15 now. Any LHM (light hydraulic mineral fluid, as was used in Citroen cars) is suitable. I'd have thought that 32 or 46 hyd oil could be used but as they're of a higher viscosity, the brake pistons may not release as quick? As long as mineral fluid is used and most definately not synthetic Dot 3,4 or 5, as the m'cylinder and piston seals will turn to jelly.
