JCB 3CX 1987 Slew Lock Fitting

Post #1 by Classic3CX » Sat Jul 11, 2020 2:22 pm

Hi,

Does anyone have any photos or explanation of how the slew lock is fitted? I think I have all the parts and was looking to fit soon. It’s a hydraulic actuated one with the handbrake type

Cheers

Looks like some kind of cable missing from the slave to the latch.

The rod at the top of the above picture pushes up into the slave cylinder and the clevis screws onto it and should then attach to the locking plate with the pin.........but the locking plate is the wrong one,as there is no hole to attach the pin to.The is no cable as the handbrake lever in the cab just works a rod or such like, which activates a master cylinder in the cab.
The picture below isn't very clear but may help if you can zoom in.It's from a workshop manual in the download section of this forum.Page 2 of the JCB downloads,at the very bottom....JCB 3cx 4cx Backhoe Loader Service Manual SN 290000-400000..Page 195

Thanks very much, that’s the thing I was after, So its wrong plate then and must be a slightly different design one for that era. Makes sense now really.

Or is the plate upside down and has the hole for the pin on the other side?
