Good morning chaps,
Can anyone suggest an insurer that will cover my recently repatriated 1991 3cx for third party fire & theft (or fully comp)? It has a current V5, and I have owned it for a number of years.
Tried Footman James who thought I wanted to Insure a steam train !!!!!!! and NFU who absolutely didn’t understand what I wanted to insure and why..... All help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Tony

WHen you went to the NFU, did you call their central number or local office?

It was my Local office. I got through to central but they told me to deal with my local office, who really didn’t understand what I was after, no matter how hard I tried to explain.....

Odd.. I only deal with our local office (Stuart at the Alton office), and I can't fault them, regardless of what conundrums I've thrown their way. When I insured my 1938 crawler the call was Make and Model, then Reg number. Ah, no reg - no V5, never has. No problem sir, chassis number? No, plate is missing. No problem, engine number? Yes I've got the engine number. Ok, fully comp, card details and all done in probably less than ten minutes. I've used them for years and they have specific vintage and classic tractor policies. I know a JCB is a slightly different kettle of fish but I can't imagine a policy for private use for something like a house self-build project with a 'not for hire or reward' clause would be difficult for them.
Anyhow, that's been my experience with NFU. A dig through back of a classic tractor mag might throw up something else but off hand I can't think of another supplier.

NFU were useless for me. I use Footman James. Simple policy, around £120 a year for non-commercial use.
