2B 4 cylinder?

Post #1 by Mackie199 » Sun Jan 05, 2020 1:20 pm

Hello, we have a 2B which has been sitting for a number of years as the BMC 3 cylinder requires a rebuild. I would like to get the 2B going again due to it being smaller around the sheds but always found it a bit under powered so would like to fit a 4 cylinder (BMC38 or 4/98) as per the later 2D. Does anyone have previous experience of this conversion?

Is the 2D the same basic frame as the 2B?
Is there a 4 cylinder engine cradle that will fit in the 2B frame?

Thanks

The 2D is basically an updated 2B where as the 2B had the 3 cyl nuffield engine the 2D had the 4cyl leyland engine fitted , i would think its a fairly easy swap and as you say definately more power too.
