Hi guys,
got a seal gone on the dipper ram, have read up a bit on replacing and found the 'beware the gudgeon pin' pointer.
question is; were there many variations over the years for this ram? trying to locate the part number for my particular machine and having difficulties so was kinda hoping that the seal is an obvious part number for the 89 model?
any ideas?

You should find you can search this website and find the part number required .https://parts.jcb.com/
Or call / email Vicary Plant and give them your machine serial number http://www.vicaryplant.co.uk/
There must be dozens of JCB 3CX's in France , there seems to be an enquiry from someone based in France regularly .

now to find that dwell that people speak of, can't see it at first look and nothing showing on my workshop manual, is this spigot / dowel on the smaller rams maybe?

Hi,
You will find the dowel under the seal nearest the rod end.
There should be a threaded hole in the dowel so you can use a bolt to extract it.

only 1 possible kit for dipper ram on a 3CX of that age. Should be 60mm rod, 100mm bore.
