JCB 3CX Black cab door

Post #1 by cartonj » Fri Mar 31, 2017 10:45 pm

I'm looking for a left hand side door (full glass) for a black cab JCB 3cx. My machine only came with hinges so I need a full door with handle.
New glass and handle isn't cheap so would prefer if someone was breaking a machine that I could take the door off.

I appreciate that it won't be an easy find but worth asking. I'm based in Ireland but will consider anywhere.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to adapt an earlier or later door?

Hinges would have to be modified but not impossible

I would be tempted to see if you can find some grey cab doors and modify. As I understand it was always easy to break the glass door.

Not having owned a JCB there seem to be a few owners after the doors for different models, Is there something about there design whereby they can't be copied?

I doubt if you will find a seconhand door although i stand to be corrected, there are different versions that have a different number of holes in them so chech your hinges, A new glass door is between £200-£285. When you fit it be very carefull the break easily, get a piece of wood an place under the glass as when you bolt the glass up an open you will see it needs to clear the mudguard if you dont use a spacer when you open the door it will catch and break on the mudguard take your time. I have fitted one a couple of years back. As for door handles you can get them on ebay new for not too uch money that way you will also have a key so your door will be lockable.

Have you tried checking a construction equipment salvage yard for a machine that was burned or a total loss? I was fortunate to find a Perkins AR block to rebuild a blown engine from a salvage yard for very short money in Canada.

John check out this link http://www.equitractmaroy.com/default.htm these guys had hundreds of parts and if you email the owner Felipe (felipe@equitractmaroy.com) he is really good about responding and if he doesn't have one, ask him to keep an eye out there for one when he goes to auctions.

I drove 12 hours round trip to pick up a salvaged Perkins AR block and it was as advertised and well priced. Quebec and Ontario are well known to us guys in the states for their equipment salvage yards and I know most will ship internationally.

What year is your 3CX?
