Can anyone tell me please where I can get a new door damper for my Project 8 3CX ? Diggerparts don't do them. Or are they something that can be obtained from motor factors assumimg you can find the correct length ?
Thanks for any help.

If they are a standard gas ram type damper, just type gas rams into Google and you should find somebody who can sell you a new one at a fraction of the price that a dealer part would cost.

Thank you Jeremy. I have no knowledge of how these things work/are made so I will do as you suggest.

Re: Door damper.
I ended up buying this : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251216717819?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
I gave them my machine No. and so I thought that was my best option. It arrived the next day and fits perfectly but I have one issue with it. It's a bit too "strong" When I am inside the machine and undo the door to get out it very nearly pulls me out through the door !! And when I am getting inside the machine it isn't the easiest thing to shut the door again. I did read somewhere that some of these dampers are adjustable but this isn't. I suppose that over time it will become weaker. Either that or I shall end up with only one arm.

You may end up with one arm bigger than the other then people may start to talk!! I fitted a new one to my machine a year ago and its alot softer now so i guess the seals inside soften.

Yes, I could do if that one wasn't jiggered as well. I thought I would buy one just to see if it was O.K. Maybe I'll buy another one from a different source and it it isn't quite so fierce I could then swap them.diggerjones wrote:Could you swap it with tother side
Actually I have found another benefit of the new one. If any scallys try to steal the digger when they open the door (if it isn't locked) it will smack them in the face. I'm an optimistic kind of chap.
