Martyn, are you sure about that ? I thought that 3Cs always had a door. I know that a 3 didn't but I always thought that 3Cs did. I may be wrong though. And a 3 had the throttle under the steering wheel, just like the Super Major if I remember correctly. It certainly had the dials the same as a Super Major.

The 1963 3C didn't have a door and possibly some of the early 64's had no door. In fact as per Martyn's timeline post 1964 JCB 3's did have a side door.

At £750 you've done very very well. From a vintage - collectable perspective (which is the best way to look at your Mk 1) your JCB is in very good nick. In fact its one of the best I've seen in a long time. With it having the Fordson engine it ticks another box.
Mechanically these old diggers are easy and cheap to maintain. You'll suffer no stress owning one of these.
£200 is no bargain for that ditching bucket. They are regularly sold on ebay for half that. I sold a 2ft trenching bucket a few weeks ago in flawless condition for £60.

Re: New to the Site and in need of lots and lots of Help!
Hello Scooby i am sure of it, and if you look at my interior cab photo you will see a yellow line just under the steering wheel going forward, its slightly to the right of the steering wheel column base, that is the throttle... and did you know that the 1964/5 JCB 3 had a side door and redesigned cab ?

Hi Guys
Just a brief up date. Went to see Sue (1964 jcb 3c) today and got really cold feet after some of the comments.
She started no problem but things didn't like moving very well and made some very strange noises.
Thought about what the guys had said and pulled away.
I think I will save a few more silver coins over Christmas and get something a bit younger with a 4 in 1.
Even with my enthusiasm and commitment I think that was a project too far.
So I'm on the look out for a new model sue
Thanks for the comments and advice please keep them coming.
What a great bunch of guys you are.
Tony

That is exactly what I got for the one in my photo. when I sold it about 4 years ago. No bushes and no pins either, it had just been gathering dust. The newer ones are much better.TullyveeryClassicJCB wrote:£200 is no bargain for that ditching bucket. They are regularly sold on ebay for half that.
