hi, ive bought a massey ferguson 50HX ? which needs the top end of the engine rebuilding.it has no papers, but the plate inside the cab says model:50H, MS no. 2522, serial no. B3126.the engine no. is LF3118OU152568P. i have no other info - so which perkins engine do you think this has? and which company sells reasonably priced spares which arent such poor quality they immediately break up and wreck the engine? ive seen internet ads for top end rebuild kits for £250-£300, are these terrible chinese crap? i just need pistons, rings, liners, and head gasket, the rest is ok.
any advice gratefully received, cheers, jonny.

If memory serves me correctly, the early versions had the Perkins 4.236 in the 50H and I think the 50HX had the 4.248 to give a few more h.p. Sure the 4.236 is the same engine as used in the JCB 3CX of the same era.

Any MF tractor dealership or Diperk will give you genuine spares or if you find Bepco,Sparex or Vapormatic dealers you shouldn't have a problem either. Diperk should be able to work from your engine no. to be sure.
