new on here - 3DII help

Post #1 by cribbohx » Thu Nov 06, 2014 6:53 pm

Hi all, i'm brand new on here. Earlier this year we acquired an ebay relic a JCB 3DII Serial number 3D 67237. The old girl now lives in France at our lake and needs to earn her keep. Main problems seem to be:

Radiator leaking very badly
- have removed and brought back to uk for replacing/recore?
- rad is caked, properly caked!, in oil - could this be a leaking dual core rad?

Brakes are pretty bad
One leg drops but wont lift back up
Steering is a bit random (could be interesting near water, haha).

Anyway the pressing item is the Rad and perhaps new hoses ...where can i sort one?
Could maybe do with a trenching bucket too? (only has the one pictured)

any thoughts comments guys...be gentle, i know little about these contraptions :shifty:

Oh and a video... sorry about the sideways action (wasn't me) oh and the wheels were changed for the red ones with better tyres.

Get someone to work the steering back and forth and you might locate the problem. I remember on a 3C11 owned many years ago the fitting on the top of the R/H king pin had worn so there was movement in the steering ram controlling the steering. IIRR i bodged it by welding as the big nut would not pull down tightly enough and would move again. long time ago now. :dizzy:
