Post #1 by v-e-s-a » Sun Oct 12, 2014 7:17 am

Greetings from Finland! And first, sorry my bad English. I bought JCB 3D2 machine. year 70-75 I do not know precisely. Please, I need all user experiences this macine. good and bad. First bigger problems what I find is gearbox. I can not get gear 3 on? 1,2,4 working fine. And digger compiler is loose (clearance) can that fix? and right brake stays on. More later... Thanks and sorry

Hi Vesa.
Brakes were probably the weakest part of what is a good work horse. You can inspect the brake linkages from underneath the machine. They might be seized. The pedals might also be seized on the cross shaft. The easiest way to get to the brake housings is to lift out the seat then lift the floor plates screw off the end plates. There will be two friction plates each side and an expander plate. This is what is common on a 3c11 or a3c111 with a manual 10 speed gearbox. From what you;ve said above your 3c might have a torque with 4 speeds. Not sure if the information above is correct but some one on here will be able to keep you right.

The engine is a 4/98 Leyland , the "3" at the end of the chassis number means it has a Brockhouse torque converter and the gearbox will be a 4 speed Leyland
