jcb 3c back hoe

Post #1 by Tom90 » Thu Oct 02, 2014 12:20 am

Hi all
I wondered if anybody could tell me if the backhoe assembly is the same on a mk2 as it is on a mk3, and if not what are the differences
Thanks for any answers

There are differences and similarities. In fact there are differences between early mk2's and later mk2's. Which aspect of the assembly are you referring to?

Well I have a mk 3 but the slew gear has broken up, so I purchased a whole back actor that I knew was in a hedge on a farm I know, it has the king post, boom, dipper and all rams etc so I thought it would be easier to replace the whole lot rather than fix mine also it was cheap, how ever I'm not sure what it is of it looks the same as mine but I know that the mk2 and 3 look very similar, i plan to remove mine at the hydra clamps and fit this straight on but I thought that I better check that it will fit first

It will fit providing it is a later mk2 back actor and not an early mk2. The early mk2 ones didn't have hydra clamps.

Just to note the slewing gear on a mk3 was upgraded from the mk2 and do look different. The slew pots have rounded ends compared to the flat ends on a mk2.

I think it must be from a later mk11 then as it still has the hydra clamps attached to the hoses but the slew pots are flat on the ends, i did notice that about the pots before that's what got me wondering, should have a busy weekend then as I also have front wheel bearings to change :P

Thank you very much for your help
