Jcb 3 or 3c or something else
Our jcb has a sloped front end but is based on a Nuffield skid the serial number is 40769/5/65 bit confused to what model it actually is because the 3c mk 1 is based on a fordson from what I can gather and the 3c mk 11 has a flat front end? I will try and get sum pictures up of it.

Some of the JCB experts like Martin Henley will confirm for you but there threads on CMN, if you search, which will give you the time line. The Fordson link ceased with the end of the Super Major sometime in 1964. JCB failed to strike up an agreement with Ford for the new world series of tractors and so switched to the BMC Nuffield skids. So I think you could have what is essentially the same model of machine with either or skid unit depending on when it was built. The Mk11 came in about '67

JCB stopped using ford units in 1965 and started using BMC after that so you can have a 3C mk 1 the same style as the ford based ones with a BMC in it.

I suppose JCB might have had some Fordson skids in hand when the Major production finished. JCB were supposed to have buried the last Major skid.

Had a jcb 3c mk1 year 1967 that had a bmc skid. The cab had a hinged door and a hinged rear window that folded up onto the cab roof. Looks much the same as the photo above.
