3CX 1989 Tacho/Speedo meter not working
HI, does anybody know if there is a way of checking if the signal from alternator comes to the Tachometer , and is it possible to check if the meter is working or faulty? And if faulty is there a chance to repair it ? Ive got a brillint "electronics" bloke but would be helpfull to know the answers first. Most obliged for any help , Tomek

How is the battery charging?
The tacho output taps the windings before the rectifier, so a non-functional tacho may mean there is a charging problem.
Some multimeters have a frequency (Hz) setting what would allow you to measure the tacho output for signal. I haven't tried it, but a simple test light may flash at low revs when connected to the tacho output.
Testing the tacho itself needs a signal generator which most people won't have lying around.
