Water pump replacement

The part on the right looks like a old hydraulic union inner missing the outer flange section!
Nothing I see on old JCB's really surprises me now.

Thanks everyone for your input . Don't worry Jeremy I will be watching this engine like a hawk when it starts up . I still have a niggling worry in the back of my mind about why this was done . All the best Cheers Chris
