1984 JCB 3cx 4x4 selector

Hi. When I purchased my 1984 jcb 3cx the entire 4x4 system had been removed. Prop shaft, side shafts, selector, the works. Does anyone have pictures or instructions from a manual as to where the 4x4 selector goes. I am thinking that it goes on or near the front loader/bucket controls and looks like a cable operated lever. Can anyone confirm this? Why would the 4x4 have been removed? Where there major problems with this setup perhaps?

My guess would be there is something busted inside, although the removal everything seems odd. Have you got the drive output from the rear axle in place?
