Helping this thread out.Some pics...

Post #1 by nick lamb » Sun Dec 23, 2007 1:26 pm

This thread seems slow.perhaps a few more pics of scrapers will help...
First pic is in 1989 of Profbreaks TS24B.It's just blown a cooler on the back engine :(
second and third pic is of my TS14B working in Gretna Green in 1994.Billy Geary is in the pic looking at the rear exhaust.
I purchased this scraper from Billy McGeady where it was working at Rough Hill occs in Ayrshire,Scotland cleaning haulroads up after Neil Bechers 657's and Crouch's 777's.It was ex army and came with 2500hrs on the clock and another lowloader full of spare TS14's!!.It had been painted at Crouch's Charlmaston occs in Cat yellow and had Billy Geary's name painted to the front along with a big shamrock!
Next pic is McAlpine's TS14 and a D8H in approx 1970
Last pic is of another of Profbreaks of Derby TS24B taken in Chester in 1989.It was the first motorscraper I ever drove.
I will post some more of Budge's 631's 627's,etc later
Enjoy

some more....The chap on McAlpines TS14 is my dad and it's also him on Budges 627.
The last two pics are of Kevin Morgans(Morshan) TS24 Yankie scrapers in 1991.Detroit V12 in the front and inline 6 at back.He still has 5 of these beasts.I was on one in 1997 for him.You know when you've done a days work on one of these!
I last worked alongside them in 2001 and they were still shifting alot of muck

Thanks for the interest lads.
Greeniron,I'm not sure what trannies are in the Yankie 24's other than they are Allison.I can tell you that you had flick the cellenoids on the gear leaver to get the back trannsmission to kick in sometimes. This was pretty rough on the driver and the transmission as you could be pulling out of the dig with the back engine screaming and no drive to the back wheels then bang as it kicked in :o
