Hi Folks,

Today I was at the "War & Peace Show" down at Paddock Wood, Kent.
This is an excellent show and I will be posting quite a few pics that I took today mainly under the Military vehicles topic.
I came across this interesting beast but does anybody know the model number? ;)
I was also lucky enough to get a couple of shots of it on the move as it went to do a couple of circuits of the show area, it sounded awesome. :)

According to the book "Caterpillar 75 years" it looks like a Caterpillar 830MB with 18 yard Wabco CT4 scraper built in the late 60's.The 830 tractors were also used with Athey dump trailers. Tim

Its a Caterpillar 830M - Clark-Michigan also built a very similar unit.
You also had a choice of trailing scraper - Wabco, Wooldridge/Curtiss-Wright or Euclid :ugeek:

Hi, Jeremy.
The replies above are correct, a Cat 830M tractor with a Wabco scraper. Many of these tractors were also fitted with hydraulic dozer blades. This made them one very handy unit. You can see the dozer lift ram mounts on the side of the hard nose on this machine.

They were apparently a pretty robust machine and a rather effective earthmover. Several people have told me that they would work fairly happily in conditions that would have a Cat 627 twin-power scraper struggling.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Martyn ,yes it is the same one.It is a 830mb ,the later hydraulic model ,that i purchased from Holland ,for the blade and hitch, that were missing off my 830m.I then sold the tractor to steve ,who then located another 830mb in Ireland ,which he purchased to replace some of the bits i had removed.I am still looking for a curtis wright rope opperated box to go behind mine if anyone knows of one?

Hi, DAJOCAT.
Please stop teasing us like that. It's all very well telling us that there is a barn full of these machines and Clark 290's in Holland.
