Mc Alpines 627 scrapers building the M66 Motorway
I like to introduce myself my name is Edward and ive always bean interested in excavators. I lived opposite a quarry where my dad worked and other relatives. I was introduced to big machines at a very young age and still remember my mum pushing me up the quarry in the pram and seeing a machine only thinking it was a dragon, i jumped out of the pram and ran backdown the steep hill only to be caught up by mum to have my legs slapped for havin here push me up the hill lol . To date i have 8400 images of excavators and 2500 place marks on google earth to do with quarrys and opencast sites. although a camera was hard to come by in my younger days i managed to borrow off relatives. I have just a few samples of my early excavator fotos,

Hi Edward, nice to see some more scraper pics. Those look like some very early 627B's.Macs had quite a few.I saw them at Skem M57 too back in the early 80's.I last worked with thm at the M6 at Preston in 1996.We were on hire to Balfours. They ended up in Hong Kong I think.
