The Port of Goole

Post #1 by canaldrifter » Mon May 14, 2012 1:20 pm

One or two gems in this film made in 1964. At about 4.40 in, heavy lifting off low loaders and artics of the time, including loading shovels and an RB30.

Later a variety of period lorries can be seen loading on the dockside. These were the days when fork-lift trucks and palletisation were in infancy. No side shifts! Seeing a lorry backing on to a pallet of lager reminded me how often I used to have to do this sort of thing until fork-truck drivers learnt how to swing a pallet into position. But it was much better than all that hand-balling!

If you are a H&S freak, look away now.....
