A few pictures of the last of three movements from Mostyn Dock to St Asaph in North Wales. The pictures start at Northop, just prior to the load joining the A55. The tractors were turned round here, reversed down the eastbound onslip (to avoid travelling over the interchange bridge) and then crossed over the central reservation before heading off (right way) down the westbound carriageway of the A55 to St Asaph. The transformer weighed in at 220 tonnes, the whole combination somewhere around 340 tonnes. The weather got worse as the morning wore on!!
Enjoy!!

Great pic's, there must have been some steep banks to climb with that many tractors hanging onto the trailer, I would think just 1 of those units would tug that piece about easily at that weight, credit to A.L.E. they can tackle a job in good order, there is enough lights on to catch a Sun-tan, chunks moving like this always look great in the night lit up like a Fair Ground ride.

Re: Transformer Move In Sunny North Wales
There were two steep bits to negotiate on the route, one on the A5119 near the "Coach and Horses" at Flint Mountain (Up) before reaching the A55, the other was Rhuallt Hill on the A55 - a long downhill. The original intention was that the third tractor would be coupled up once the central res. had been crossed on the A55 to provide some extra braking down Rhuallt, but I believe the first trip struggled a bit at Coach and Horses so the third tractor was hooked up from the start.
